Church In The Canyon is a member of the Presbyterian Church in
America.
As a church family we belong to a community
of believers with congregations across the USA and Canada. We are
all committed to God's Word and recognize as our official
statement of teaching the historic Westminster Confession of
Faith, which was written by believers in England between
1644-1649.
Our denomination's name is the Presbyterian Church in America. We
are not affiliated with or connected to the larger Presbyterian
denomination. Unlike them, we hold no membership in the National
Council of Churches, nor in the World Council of Churches.
Instead we are part of the National Association of Evangelicals,
an organization for church groups who hold to the Bible as God's
Word and the principles of the Protestant Reformation.
The value of our membership in the PCA is manifold. Our combined
ability to do mission work in the world is great. We are on every
continent and our works range from Bible translation to church
planting to schools and medical facilities. Our efforts at home
to begin new congregations, especially among Asians, Latinos and
Afro-Americans, is something we would have no participation in as
a small congregation if we were not affiliated. And we have a
number of short term mission projects where laypeople (teenagers,
singles, and families) may serve in many parts of the world.
We have a fully accredited graduate training seminary for
pastors, missionaries, biblical counselors and Christian
educators (Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis). We also
have a first-rate liberal arts college that schools collegians in
a thoroughly Christian world and life view (Covenant College,
Lookout Mountain, GA). A number of graduates from this college
are serving Christ in positions of influence in the legal,
publishing and political worlds.
